The Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) program helps eligible families afford safe, decent housing in the private market. Applying is done online, and keeping your application current is key to staying on the list.
Current Waitlist Status
Waitlist availability changes periodically. To find out whether the waitlist is currently open or closed, please contact our Section 8 office directly at (928) 782-3823 ext. 110, or check back on this page for updates.
All applicants must complete an online application. Once submitted, your name is placed on a waiting list regulated by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Questions About Your Application?
Our Section 8 team is here to help. Reach us Monday through Friday during regular business hours.
It is important that you update your application every time there is a change in your mailing address, phone number, or household composition. Families are frequently removed from the waiting list because mailed correspondence could not be delivered. Staying current protects your place on the list.
Persons with disabilities who require reasonable accommodations to complete the online application may call the Housing Authority of the City of Yuma at (928) 782-3823 to make special arrangements.
Not sure what the Housing Choice Voucher program is or whether you may qualify? Our overview page explains how the program works, eligibility guidelines, and what the voucher covers.
Once you receive a voucher, program participants have responsibilities that must be met to remain in good standing. Review what is expected of voucher holders before and after you are housed.
